Slow Cooker Sloppy Joes

Slow Cooker Sloppy Joes

SERVES 8

Ingredients

Directions

In large skillet, cook the beef, celery and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain.

Transfer to a 3-quart slow cooker.

Stir in the chili sauce, brown sugar, pickle relish, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper.

Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours or until flavors are combined.

 Serve on yummy squishy rolls
(cheese is optional, Darren would say necessary)

Don't forget the sweet potato fries and apple sauce on the side!

As my son would say, delicioso!

Weekly Menu Monday

Happy Monday.

We had a fairly nice weekend.  I got overly emotional, *shocker* I know, on Saturday after spending another hour on the phone with our mortgage company.  What a mess it has become.  I was told to call back in a week and I would have an answer.  I'm not holding my breath.

I won a few bets yesterday so I'll be having some guest bloggers to delight you with in the next few weeks.
More on that to come later.  I have to figure out how to set the whole thing up first!

Last weeks menu was delicious and all the meals went over nicely with the boys.  So, kudos to me and Darren.
Darren made the pasta and prepared the chicken on the weekend since I work.

We had a little trouble yesterday with the huge chicken I selected for the Slow Cooker Whole Chicken but right when we were about to give up (it was going on 6pm) the little temperature thingy popped UP!  YUM!!  So good.
To quote Darren, "This chicken is so succulent!"

Disappointingly so I am not nearly as organized as I begin this new week.  A few things (mainly PMS and it's aftermath) threw me through a loop.
But such is life.  I'll get over it.  Life ain't gonna wait for me.

So, here's my weekly menu:

Monday: Fish Sticks and French Fries
Tuesday: Slow cooker Sloppy Joes
Wednesday: Sweet and Sour Sausage over White Rice
Thursday: Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings
Friday:
Saturday: Stuffed Peppers (our Valentines Day ritual, yes I know it's not Valentines Day till Sunday but we're having our niece and nephew over and sharing the yumminess with them.
Sunday:

Yep.  I am aware that Friday and Sunday are blank. Sunday is Valentines Day and Darren and I have no real idea what we're doing.  That's kind of a sad thing but at the same time we're not really Valentines Day type of people.  We have an anniversary for that and that's exactly 1 month away.  We almost got married on February 8th, 2003 but thought we'd enjoy the weather better if we waited.  I'm glad we did.

Friday might be a YOYO night.
(You're On Your Own)

I don't always have everything figured out.  Sometimes that bothers me but today I'm giving myself a pass.

Weekly Menu Monday

Darren IS off today but he's spending it with our nephew....
Video Game Day.  Fun for them.

I'm off first thing to get a whole crap load of blood drawn to continue with getting this health business taken care of.  I have to fast for 12 hours before the draw.  Yuck to fasting.  Yuck, yuck, yuck.
I'll be hungry by the time I get back to the house.
HA!  Who am I kidding?!?  You know I'll be stopping at Tim Hortons!!

The weather this week looks to be nothing like last week.  It appears that we will actually have a spring.  That's nice.  Some years we seem to go right from winter into summer.  We'll be in the mid 50's into the 60's BUT I think we'll be getting some rain too.

APRIL SHOWERS BRING MAY FLOWERS!

Last weeks menu was really good.  I did not feel like cooking on Thursday and instead went right outside with the boys after I got back from the doctors.  We ate hot dogs instead so Hamburger Stew is back on the menu this week.

The crispy rosemary chicken and red potato fries was good.  The smoked sausage zucchini saute was perfect the Turkey Burgers were AGAIN melt in your mouth and the cherry glazed ham... Um.....YUM.

Here's what's cookin in the kitchen of Kerri's Klutter this week:

Monday: Slow Cooker Hamburger Stew

Tuesday:  4-Cheese Healthy Macaroni and Cheese

Wednesday: Lemon Garlic Tilapia

Thursday: Slow Cooker Thai Pork with Peanut Sauce

Friday: Slow Cooker Sloppy Joes
(As featured on Our Mommyhood)

Saturday: Layered Summertime Salad (Hot dogs for the boys)

Sunday: Buffalo Chicken Wing Pasta

There you have it.
That's what's cookin in my kitchen.

Weekly Menu Monday

And just like that it's Monday again.
How was everyone's weekend?
                                                                     Mine was nice.

On Saturday Darren and I had a little date.  We went out and walked around a few stores.  Jacek's birthday is coming up so we started picking up a few things.  I left the bag with the birthday goodies on the dining room table over night.  Jacek saw that bag this morning and looked through it.  I then had to convince the very sad child that the things in that bag were not for him.  He was so deflated.  I apparently still think that I have children that aren't little boys, that don't get into everything, and that don't think that every toy that comes into this house is theirs.  I wonder what he'll say upon opening those gifts on his birthday.  So much for the element of surprise.

All that salivating over last weeks was for good reason.  Everything was delicious.  The least enjoyed was the pork loin.  It was one of those already seasoned loins and it was kind of spice overloaded.  Besides the fact that it took almost 3 hours to cook and it was still not reading a really hot 165, we had to cut all the heavily spiced parts off in order for the boys to eat any.

The hit of the week was every bit delightful and then some:

Once I convinced Jacek that this was the same thing that is inside fish sticks he ate it up.
Darren and I really enjoyed it.  We hadn't had "real" fish like this since we lived in North Carolina.
We liked it so much it's on the menu again this week, just prepared a different way.
 As I've said before
here's the boys lunch from Tuesday
Before you say anything about these poor legless "twins"
Jacek requested pickles after I took this picture.
The pickles became the "twins" legs and I had to do
everything in my power to keep them from running away but eventually
Jacek and Aidan overpowered them, limb by limb.

So, here's the weekly menu(with some links to recipes):

Monday: Breakfast - yep!  White Chocolate Chip Pancakes, Sausage and Eggs for dinner.
Sit back and watch the boys stuff their faces.

Tuesday: Slow cooker Sloppy Joes (made with ground turkey)

Wednesday: Parmesan crusted Tilapia fillets (suggested by Danielle from Danielle's Meandering Thoughts)

Thursday:  Crock Pot Fajitas (suggested by Mama M from My Little Life)

FridayPizza

Saturday: Toasted Cheese Sandwich's and soup

Sunday Slow Cooker Pot Roast (We are not big pot roast people..(haha...funny image that created) so fingers crossed we like this.  It has great reviews on allrecipes.com)

I am not as excited about this weeks menu as I was for last week but there's a couple of hopefuls in there.
